Emilia Auersperg
"My practice currently revolves around our distanced and insensitive behaviour towards rejected mundane objects. I collect used plastic items, disposable razors or toothbrushes, classified as trash by our throwaway society, and wish to revitalize and re-contextualize them.
Shaping, using heat guns to melt plastic, excites me since the unruly, spontaneous movement of the hot, liquid material changing states of matter reminds me of uncontrollable blossoming. Later positioning the transformed items onto one of the numberless packaging cardboard or Styrofoam- boxes or stand as the symbolic home- a place for elevation and new potential life to receive compassion and curiosity. I associated this distant, seemingly fixed relationship to everyday materials with our present-day attitudes toward excess and the inevitable collapse that is to follow."
