Archie Hassall
@rchie__
Originally from a small town in North Yorkshire called Ripon, Archie Hassall is a multi-disciplinary artist based at Central Saint Martins in London. His work tends to navigate topics regarding class and masculinity adopting a self-reflective approach to his early life as a boy growing up in a hyper-masculine environment. The Works in this exhibition “English Rose” and “A stones Throwaway” attempt to elevate the ordinary man, abandoning the materialist forms of idolism. In these works, Archie uses a traditional screen-print method similar to ones used in Rowntree’s Chocolate Factory where his Dad previously worked as a screen-printer. The images used are hand selected from Archie’s own archive.
